Losing Weight Without The Boring Diet

If you have decided that it is time to bite the bullet and lose weight, then good for you. One of the things however, that people tend to dread about this decision is that belief that they are going to have to give up all their favorite foods and spend their days munching on celery sticks and sipping lemon water.
By altering the way that you cook and some of the ingredients that you use you will be able to drop the pounds without having to ditch your roasting pan. In many cases we tend to rely on animal products such as butter and fats to add flavor to our meals. A healthier option is to reduce the use of these products and add more spice to your meals. An extra benefit of spices is that some of them are able to increase your metabolism and burn off calories faster.
For long term and permanent weight loss you need to change your lifestyle and diet for good. Going on short term diets for a week or so at a time might lead to some loss of weight at the time, but the weight will quickly come back and then you might even end up heavier than before you did the diet. The reason for this is that when you substantially reduce your calorie intake your body goes into survival mode and it slows down your metabolism. If you are guilt of yo-yo dieting, then you can eventually burn out your metabolism and it will be slower than it should be.
The answer is eating sensibly all the time rather than going extreme. Diets that work tend to be more about lifestyle changes than eating water cress soup and nothing else for a week at a time. The first thing you need to do is work out what you are really eating.
A great way to start looking after your diet is to start a food diary. Every day for a couple of weeks write down everything that you eat in it. Following this you can analyze it and it can be the source of some very useful information. It will show you where your strengths and weaknesses in your eating habits lie and then you can plan around them.
You should also try to learn about the different properties of the foods that you eat and in this way you will not get suckered in by foods that claim to be healthy or light and yet are full of empty calories and sugar or fat.
By planning your diet and learning more about the foods that you consume you can lose a lot of weight and you will be able to speed up your metabolism and keep the weight off for good.
