Creating Your Perfect Workout Program

Once you’ve made the decision to commit to weight loss and get in shape, the next step is choosing the exercise program that will work best for you. Many people elect to purchase some sort of a gym membership when it comes to fitness, but this is not necessarily the optimal choice for everyone.
There are many reasons why some people choose to workout at home rather than at a gym. If you are obese, you may not be comfortable in an environment where the majority of people seem to be in great shape. This is understandable and you should figure out a way to exercise that is comfortable for you. Gym memberships can also be pricey and it takes time out of your day to drive to and from the gym, so if time is an issue for you, this is another reason to workout at home.
Now let’s talk about some possible workout routines that may be best for you.
There are so many super exercise DVD’s on the market now and you can pretty much create the workout that is ideal for you. This may depend on your current level of fitness and whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced when it comes to aerobic programs and what you can handle when it comes to the intensity of a workout. Maybe you want to create your workouts to focus on specific muscle groups such as your abs, arms, thighs or glutes. Whatever your fitness target, you are sure to find some kind of workout that will meet your needs.
For example, one great product on the market right now is the P90X Peak Results Package that you see on the infomercials all the time today. This would be a great fitness program if you are determined to make a 90 day commitment to see relatively fast results. This is a very peak intensity workout by Beachbody that is led by personal trainer Tony Horton. The program utilizes an advanced technique called muscle confusion and many people swear by the results.
Great home workouts for cardio might include walking or riding a bicycle if you reside where you have warm weather year round. If you do experience a winter season where it is harder to get outside to do your cardio, you might think about purchasing some equipment such as a good treadmill, an elliptical machine or a stationary bicycle just to name a few suggestions.
So many people are extremely busy today, so the 8-10 minute DVD workouts may just solve your dilemma of finding enough time in your day for exercise. Personally, I love the older 8 minute abs and legs DVD’s and do my abs workout 5 days a week partly because it is so fast and easy to do. If you want to pack a great punch into a short cardio/strength training routine, you should definitely check out the 30 Day Shred workout by famous trainer, Jillian Michaels.
The most important thing you can do when organizing your fitness routine, is to get started. Period. Choose something, whether you’re ready for the challenge of the P90X, investing in your own gym equipment or easing into your exercise with a few 10 minute workouts throughout your day, choose to get started now. One of the best things you can do for your health and life is to start working out on a regular basis. Make the commitment to one thing today and gain the momentum to begin moving forward.
